Jack’s Burgers in Southwold Crowned Best Burger in Suffolk After 3-Month Local Taste Test

After a three-month quest and more than 30 burgers tasted across East Anglia, the winner is in and it’s none other than Jack’s Burgers in Southwold.

What started as a bit of a fun food journey quickly turned into a serious mission: track down the absolute best burger in Suffolk. From Norwich to Ipswich, beach towns to backstreets, we tried everything which included double stacks, smash burgers and all different types of buns, as well as a few questionable plant-based attempts. But from the very first bite at Jack’s, we had a feeling we found something special.

A Burger Worth the Hype

The restaurant is a stone’s throw from the Southwold seafront making it ideal to grab a burger and enjoy the beauty of the beachfront. Jack’s Burgers isn’t flashy and that’s part of the charm. The setup is simple: a small, laid-back joint serving burgers and fries with a side of surf-skater energy. The vibe is casual, the staff are friendly, and the food? Genuinely brilliant.

What makes Jack’s stand out isn’t some gimmick or over-the-top menu, it’s the attention to detail. Proper smash patties with crispy edges, soft buns that hold everything together, and house-made sauces that actually have flavour. It’s messy in the best way, and every bite just works.

Why Jack’s Came Out on Top

According to the panel (a loosely assembled but committed crew of local foodies, influencers, and burger obsessives), Jack’s ticked every box:

Flavour: Seasoned right, juicy patties, and perfectly balanced toppings.
Texture: Crispy smash edges, melty cheese, no soggy bottoms.
Atmosphere: Casual and friendly, the kind of energy that makes you want to hang out and stay for one more. You don’t even need to book.
Value: Great quality without breaking the bank, even in a touristy town like Southwold.

Ideal For Non-Meat Lovers and Children

One thing we loved? Jack’s doesn’t forget about non-meat eaters. The vegan burger wasn’t an afterthought, it was crispy, spicy, and genuinely tasty. Don’t forget, we welcome kids too with their own flavourful burger and nuggets. The perfect spot for a family outing.

Suffolk’s Burger Scene Has a New King

We tried over 30 burgers during our East Anglia burger crawl. Some were good, a few were great, but only one place had that “we’ll be talking about this next week”.

Jack’s Burgers has officially claimed our top spot the best burger in Suffolk. No fluff, no PR spin. Just killer food from a place that knows exactly what it’s doing.

If you’re heading to Southwold this summer, skip the fish and chips for once and go grab a Jack’s burger.

Trust us.
